On Wednesday 13th December, as part of the Maths ASPIRE2b programme, the Year 12 A Level Maths students and our Core Maths students attended Leeds Beckett University to experience university life.
Students had a festive reception and where given booklets of staff experiences of university, before launching into a talk given by one of the current Leeds Beckett students about life on campus and his journey on becoming a Maths teacher.
Our students then had the experience of a lesson given in a lecture theatre, in the style of a university lecture. The second session saw university staff deliver a session regarding student finance and budgeting.
Maths ASPIRE2b trip organsier, Emma Brooksbank added, "The students had a great afternoon and it was a fantastic opportunity to provide a Higher Education Maths experience." The students weer also extremely positive and appreciative of the trip adding that it was ‘very helpful from a mathematical and financial point of view – and it was really interesting to learn of other people’s experiences. A great trip!’
