Parkside School recently hosted a research visit from Stephen Chapman, a Maths co-ordinator from O’Connor Catholic College, Armidale, Australia who is currently undertaking a world tour studying how financial literacy is delivered in schools.
His high profile project has also seen meetings with education officials from the across the continent as he shares his expertise that see’s Australia as one of most financial literate countries in the world.
Stephen, who had his trip funded through the highly prestigious New South Wales Premier’s Teacher Scholarship has already visited Rome, Zurich, Paris and Amsterdam before he met the staff at Parkside.
During his visit Stephen met with a range of staff who lead and deliver financial literacy in Maths, Economics and the Key Stage 3 PSHCE programme.
Deputy Headteacher Matt Barratt, who arranged the visit said “Stephen was both impressed with the passion and commitment of the staff at Parkside along with the provision and delivery of financial literacy within the curriculum.”
Following his stay at Parkside School Stephen is heading to London, Washington DC and Calgary before heading back to New South Wales via Perth and Brisbane.
